Step-by-step guide

Go to hbomax.com/subscription and sign in

Or, on a computer, select your profile, then "Subscription" (mobile/tablet: profile > Subscription; TV: Settings icon lower left > Subscription)

Check the billing provider shown at the top of the screen — these steps apply only if it is HBO Max direct

Select "Cancel Your Subscription"

Confirm the cancellation and note the expiration date shown

Watch out for

⚠️Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription — it renews until you cancel
⚠️HBO Max advises cancelling at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid another charge
⚠️You keep streaming until the end of the current billing period, and can resume from Subscription > "Resume Your Subscription"
⚠️Cancelling the base subscription also cancels add-ons such as the Extra Member add-on (unused time is refunded pro rata)
